What to put on a business card

Updated · The Echo team

In short

A business card needs your name, your role and company, one phone number, one email and a website or profile. Optionally add a logo, an address, LinkedIn and a QR code. Only print what you want people to use. Everything else can live in your digital profile, which you update without reprinting.

The essentials

  • First and last name
  • Role and company, or what you do
  • One phone number you actually answer
  • One email, your own rather than a shared one
  • A website or profile with more

Optional

  • Your company’s logo and colours
  • An address, if clients come to you
  • LinkedIn or the social network you really use
  • A QR code to your profile
  • One sentence about what you offer

What to add for your profession

What the profile should hold for each profession:

Front and back

On the front: your name, role and logo. On the back: your contact details and a QR code. The front gets remembered, the back gets used.

Common mistakes

  • Too much text in a tiny font: below 7 points it is hard to read.
  • Several phone numbers and emails: people don’t know which to use.
  • Crossed-out or hand-corrected details: it looks unprofessional. If your details change often, a profile you update is the better choice.
  • Dark text on a dark background, or a QR code on top of a photo.

When the card is digital too

With an NFC business card the card carries your name, role and logo, and everything else lives in the profile: phone, email, website, social profiles, address, opening hours, files. FAQ

Questions about NFC business cards.

Should a business card have a photo?

It isn’t required, but it helps people remember you, especially after meeting in person. In a digital profile it is more useful, because it is saved together with the contact.

Should I add an address?

Only if clients come to you: an office, a practice, a salon. Otherwise leave it out.

Mobile or landline?

The one you actually answer. If you have two, print the main one and put the other in your profile.

Bulgarian or English?

Whatever your clients speak. If you also work with foreigners, the front can be in Bulgarian and the back in English, or the profile can be in both languages.
