In short
A good 30-second introduction has three parts: who you are, whom you help and with what result, and what you are looking for now. For example: “I’m Stefan, an agent at Nisha Imoti. I help families sell their home quickly and at a good price. I’m looking for partners among notaries in Lozenets.” Say it out loud a few times until it sounds natural, and end with a question for the other person.
The three-line formula
- Who I am: name and role. “I’m Anna, a dentist at Denta Plus.”
- How I help: whom, and with what result. “I help people who are afraid of the dentist come in for a check-up calmly.”
- What I’m looking for: one specific next step. “I’m looking for companies that want check-ups for their team.”
End with a question: “And what do you do?” That turns the introduction into a conversation.
Examples by profession
| Profession | Introduction |
|---|---|
| Real estate agent | “I’m Stefan, an agent at Nisha Imoti. I help families sell their home quickly and at a good price. I’m looking for partners among notaries in Lozenets.” |
| Lawyer | “I’m Nikolay, a lawyer. I help small businesses with contracts that keep them out of disputes. I’m looking for accountants to refer clients to each other.” |
| Personal trainer | “I’m Daniel, a personal trainer at Pulse Gym. I help busy people train three times a week without injuries. I’m looking for companies that want group sessions.” |
| Sales representative | “I’m Kaloyan from Nordtech. I help shops never run out of stock. I’m looking for new stores in Plovdiv.” |
| Student | “I’m Maria, an economics student. I’m learning financial analysis and looking for an internship at an accounting firm.” |
At an interview: “Tell us about yourself”
The same formula works at an interview, but instead of “what I’m looking for”, say why you are there: “I’m applying because…”. Keep it to about a minute: what you do now, one example with a result, and why this role. Don’t retell your CV.
How to practise it
- Write it down and read it aloud: if you run out of breath, it is too long.
- Time it: 30 seconds is about 70–80 words.
- Say it to a friend and ask what they remembered.
- Have a one-sentence version and a 30-second version.
What happens after the introduction
If the conversation takes off, don’t leave the contact to chance. With Echo Card you hand over your card, they tap it with their phone and see your profile: the same introduction, your photo and an “Add to Contacts” button. What you said stays in their phone. One card is €30, with no monthly fee.
